On the 25th August last
year, Enniskillen Airport reverberated to the sound of racing exhausts as the
first Enniskillen 100 Revival got under way. A huge variety of motorbikes,
along with an array of cars, took to the smooth tarmac of St Angelo for the
Enniskillen 100 Revival event.
The large crowd were thrilled by
the sights and sounds of this first Revival, staged to commemorate the sixtieth
anniversary of the last Enniskillen 100 Motorcycle Road Races. Encouraged by
the success of last year's event, the Organising Committee has decided to run a
second Enniskillen 100 Revival event on 22nd June 2013, supported by
Fermanagh District Council and Cookstown and District MCC.
The core of the Revival
event will again be demonstration runs and parade laps by a wide variety of
historic motorcycles, on the mile long course laid out at Enniskillen Airport.
It is planned to have static displays, a PSNI BikeSafe event, displays of
historic racing and rally cars and a selection of other attractions for
motorsport enthusiasts and the general public alike.
The sights and sounds of the
2013 Enniskillen 100 Revival at Enniskillen Airport will provide a unique mix
of nostalgia and excitement for spectators and participants alike. The
organisers are working hard to secure the appearance of some very significant
riders and racing motorcycles from Ireland, Great Britain and even further
afield. Already confirmed to be attending is David Hailwood, son of the
legendary 'Mike the Bike' Hailwood, who will be riding a Factory approved
replica of his father's famous Honda 500cc four cylinder machine.
The response from participants and
spectators to last year's Enniskillen 100 Revival was so positive and
encouraging that the Enniskillen 100 Revival Committee are hoping that the
event will become an established fixture on the Fermanagh events calendar.
